How Brazil Pronto handles information when you read the website, follow its links and use the publication.

About this notice

Brazil Pronto operates this travel publication. This notice describes the information involved in using our website and the choices available to readers. It applies to Brazil Pronto’s pages, rather than to the separate websites of travel businesses, institutions or other publications that we link to.

You can read our guides and Stories without creating an account or providing payment information. The current website has no reader accounts, checkout, public comment form or newsletter signup.

Information involved in a visit

When you open a page, your browser sends a request to the website’s hosting service. That request can include your internet address, the page requested, the time, browser information and a referring address when your browser supplies one. Similar requests are made when photographs, fonts and other page resources load.

Our hosting provider, SiteGround, records technical request information in access logs. These records support delivery of the website, troubleshooting and investigation of unusual traffic. A security check can involve additional information needed to assess whether a request is legitimate.

The current publication does not use advertising pixels or third-party visitor analytics tags. It does not ask you to create a personal profile or store a reader profile in your browser.

How information is used

Technical information is used to make pages available, maintain the website, understand faults and protect the service from abuse. For example, a failed request can help identify a broken page, while an unusual pattern of requests can help identify automated misuse.

If a reader chooses to contact Brazil Pronto through an available communication channel, the information supplied is used to address that message and keep an appropriate record of the matter. Only information relevant to the enquiry should be sent. Ordinary editorial questions do not require passport copies, payment-card details or medical records.

Services that support the publication

Website hosting and security providers process technical information as part of delivering their services. Access to operational information may also be necessary for people maintaining the publication or investigating a specific fault.

Photographs and fonts displayed within our pages are served as website resources. Loading a photograph on Brazil Pronto does not require you to open an account with the source photography service.

This notice does not describe unrelated services that a reader chooses to use after leaving Brazil Pronto. Their operators explain their own information practices.

Keeping and protecting information

Technical records are subject to the retention arrangements of the hosting and security services. Different records can have different purposes and retention periods; a temporary security token is not the same as an access log.

Information held for an enquiry or a security investigation should be limited to what is needed for that purpose and any applicable recordkeeping obligation. We do not promise that every type of technical record disappears after one fixed period.

Reasonable operational safeguards are used to protect the publication. No website or communication system can guarantee complete security, so readers should avoid sharing sensitive information that is unnecessary for their enquiry.

Your choices

You can read the website without submitting a reader profile. Browser settings also let you inspect and remove cookies and other stored site data. Those controls do not remove information that has already been recorded in a hosting log.

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, people may have rights concerning access to, correction of or deletion of personal information, and other rights concerning its use. This general notice does not restrict rights available under applicable law.

  • Share only information needed for the purpose of an enquiry.
  • Review the privacy notice of an external service before submitting personal details there.
  • Use your browser’s privacy settings to manage stored website data.

Links to other websites

Our guides include links to sources, institutions and travel services that may help readers plan a visit. Following a link opens a separate relationship with that website, which may use its own cookies, collect information or offer paid services.

A reference or link does not transfer responsibility for another operator’s privacy practices to Brazil Pronto. Check the destination website’s notice and terms before providing information or making a booking.

Updates to this notice

This notice reflects the current form of the publication. If the website adds features that change the way reader information is handled, the notice and any relevant reader controls will be reviewed.

The date at the top of this page identifies the latest update. The Cookies notice provides more detail about browser storage and hosting security.
